RACE 6 (SUNDAY) RESULTS
Foxholes Report
Farlei Freight Boys Fly Together at Foxholes
Report
by Kay Turner
Portsmouth
MXC held their annual two-day meeting recently at Foxholes with all riders
eager to enjoy a fun weekend of racing.
Rain cut short day one, with only two blocks completed, but the goody
bags kept everyone entertained and the free food kept tummies filled for the
day. Sunday
saw better weather and four blocks were fitted in.
The
AMX and VMX battled it out together with Ian Tallack taking the top AMX trophy
over the two days, two wins and three second places tucked neatly away.
Visitor Richard Marsh battled hard with Tallack, finishing with two
seconds and three thirds.
A fine performance by Dan Jenkinson and escaped a beating by finishing
third overall coming in third, fourth, seventh, fifth and fifth.
Visitor Richard Hounsell kept in contention but just missed out on a
top three position, his first race letting him down coming in eighth, but
regained his composure to finish fifth, fifth, fourth and fourth.
Crash-king John Howett lived up to his name time and time again during
the weekend, but after constant bump-starts he took fifth overall, finishing
in fourth, third, a very unlucky 13th, tenth and sixth.
Ben Wassell took the final top six spot.
Battling hard amongst the VMX riders, Ben managed to scramble past a
few to finish in sixth, sixth, eighth, eighth and seventh.
Richard
Paine proved right the saying
“no pain, no gain” and after a well-deserved rest Saturday night,
took the honours in the VMX with two wins, two seconds and a third place, with
the ever-impressive Alan Scott chasing hard to finish second overall.
Scott scored a third, two seconds and two fourths, and even added the
VMX Holeshot trophy to his collection.
Neil Jenkinson, not to be out-done by son Dan came in the same third
overall position, riding fine all weekend, finishing in second, two thirds and
two fourths.
Continuing his good form since his recent return, Shaun Brooker
finished fourth overall, with Race 3 seeing a disastrous 13th place
spoil his chances of a higher position.
A third, fourth and two fifth places could have nudged him into third
but he settled for fourth.
Fifth and sixth overall were separated by one point, with Jamie
Winbourne just snatching the higher position from Alan Turner.
Both riders, determined to beat an anonymous rider, were very happy
with their positions and they stayed on level par with each throughout the
weekend, with Winbourne finishing fifth, a disastrous 19th (after
forgetting he was due out in the race!), fifth, and two sevenths.
Turner finally finished in a well-deserved sixth overall, finishing
eighth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth.
Next
out, Farlei Freight sponsored Senior Tom Speer shook his fist in victory
before even reaching the first corner to take the Holeshot prize, but with
five straight wins under his belt, he proved he was the deserved overall
victor on the weekend.
Dan Goodwin gave him a run for his money, but his 21st
position in the first race meant he would have to settle for third overall,
although he did add four second places over the two days.
Clayton Pearce made a welcome return, and rode confidently all weekend
to snatch third overall from Goodwin, finishing in sixth in race one, but
added four third positions in the remaining motos to take the bottle of bubbly
on the podium.
Fourth overall went to Jazz Beach who battled hard throughout the two
days, staying in contention with the top runners, finishing in fourth, fifth,
seventh, fourth and eighth.
A brilliant ride from Farlei Twin Callum Leitch, who took a
truly-deserved fifth overall.
With brilliant starts all weekend, he powered through the front of the
field, with only his third race stopping him from gaining a higher position.
Top three was on the cards after a fifth and fourth on day one, but his
16th pushed him down the pecking order, but he returned to his
earlier standard to finish in seventh and fifth in his remaining motos.
Another great performance came from Todd Warner, who finished in sixth
overall. Improving
with every meeting, Warner finished consistently all weekend, being awarded
three sevenths, a sixth and a ninth.
The
Inter Open riders rode steadily and consistently all weekend, with Holeshot
King Mitchell Jenkins taking five straight wins to take the overall victory.
Ashley Bailey and Jake Hassell swapped positions all weekend with
Bailey taking second overall with three seconds and two thirds, with Hassell
coming in third with two fourths, two thirds and a second.
Jamie Marsh blasted into fourth overall, with inconsistent results over
the two days, but a respectable 178 points saw him finish just outside the top
three. Two
fifths and two ninths were added to his best result of the day which he saved
till last, coming in fourth.
A great result for an improved Daniel Maggs which saw him finishing in
fifth overall.
A brilliant third on day one helped his points tally and
added to his sixth, 12th, fifth and seventh, gave him the
edge over sixth overall rider Harrison Moore.
A brilliant first outing with the club saw the youngster ride smoothly
all weekend, finishing with three eighths, a seventh, and a sixth.
A
brilliant turnout of Autos took to the track with two outstanding riders
taking first and second overall.
Visitors Greg Evans passed the chequered flag victor in all five races
with Danny Lanfear finishing close behind in second in all motos.
Portsmouth’s own Joshua Coleman flew the Pompey flag to come in a
comfortable third overall with five successive third positions.
Mr Consistency came in fourth overall.
Reece Bowman snapped up five fourth positions to take his usual
position, third place just eluding him again, but a great performance
none-the-less.
His best ever meeting saw Sam Baggott claiming fifth overall.
Riding his little heart out, he finished consistently with three fifths
and two sixths.
A rider to look out for in the future.
Visitor Conrad Mewse closed the top six, his first race being his
downfall coming in tenth, but he improved throughout the weekend, finishing
with three sevenths and a sixth.
The
Inter 85s as ever displayed spectacular racing, with Lewis Trickett battling
all weekend with Jackson Evans, but Trickett took the overall win with four
wins and a second.
Evans stood on podium spot two taking one win, two seconds, a third and
a fourth, with Chris Chapman adding a third place trophy to his holeshot
prize, finishing the weekend with a second, three thirds and a seventh.
Another fine performance by Tom Ellwood, finishing in fourth overall.
A brilliant third in race one helped his points total, and after a
seventh in race two, Tom pushed that bit harder on Sunday to come in fifth,
fourth and fifth.
Visitor Harry Noakes enjoyed sixth place so much he finished in it four
times, but added a fourth in race two to snatch fifth place away from Gordon
Appleton. Brilliant
results all weekend from the youngster until the last race when disaster
struck and he only managed to finish in 27th place.
But his outstanding second, sixth, fourth and fifth gave him enough
points to take the final top six trophy.
Flying
high in the Junior class was James Dunn who took the top podium spot with five
consistent wins, and left Fraser Viner and Kyle Webster to battle it out for
second and third.
Webster took the upper hand, finishing in second overall with three
seconds, a third and a fourth, while Viner settled for third overall with a
second and four thirds.
A fine performance by Ryan Fellowes who took fourth overall with four
fourth positions and a brilliant second, and managed to finish just in front
of Andrew Hutchison who constantly finished in fifth all weekend to be awarded
the fifth trophy.
James Rennie and Darren Wingar battled it out all through the two days,
with both boys finishing on 167 points.
But Rennie just snatched the last top six trophy because of his higher
positions. Three
sixths, a seventh and a 13th gave him the edge.
Congratulations
to all the Holeshot winners from Block 4.
A great last block with all riders riding just for the fun of it, not
caring what position they finished in, with Jackson Evans making it a
memorable afternoon by wearing his pants around the track!
A
thoroughly enjoyable weekend, with the rain unable to dampen peoples spirits.
With bellies full of champagne and vans rattling with the sound of
trophies and medals, riders went home to recover (and dry out).
A big thank you to all the Committee who were present who tried to make
the weekend as enjoyable as possible for everyone.
